Lisa Mateo

Lisa Mateo is a PIX Morning News Features Reporter bringing you the latest on what's happening around town - whether it's flying 30 feet above the ground with Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy or highlighting the tastiest cuisine, hottest music and people making a difference in the Latino community.

Lisa also fills in for Linda Church as weather anchor. She is currently enrolled at Kean University in New Jersey working toward her BS in Meteorology and a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) Seal from The American Meteorological Society.

Lisa got her start in television when she was selected in January 2000 as one of ten Tri-State area students to participate in a weekly "Broadcasting Seminar," a course which covered various aspects of the industry. She was then hired as a production assistant for PIX Morning News when it launched as WB11 Morning News in June 2000. She quickly became the Entertainment Producer five months later, writing packages, attending movie junkets and producing live in studio guests. She began working double duty as fill-in traffic reporter in 2004 and was promoted to full-time in 2006.

Lisa also worked as an on-air correspondent for the PIX special series, "Viva!," which focused on Hispanic Americans making it big America.

A graduate of Rutgers College with a double major in Journalism and Communications and a minor in Spanish, Lisa began her career in print news as a staff writer for the Suburban Trends newspaper in New Jersey, where she worked feature stories, local news and breaking news.

Born to Puerto Rican parents in Brooklyn, New York, Lisa is the oldest of four daughters. During her middle school years her parents moved the family to New Jersey, and Lisa has been a "Jersey girl" ever since.

She is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
