About Ellen Warren

Ellen Warren has been a local, national, political, White House, foreign and war correspondent. She also has been a feature writer, general columnist and was the first woman "legman" for Chicago's legendary columnist, Mike Royko. She has covered fires, murders, Chicago City Hall, arms control, the Lebanon civil war, the Middle East and opening day at Wrigley Field. She started her career with the City News Bureau of Chicago and joined the Chicago Tribune in Chicago in 1993 -- after 17 years in Washington with other newspapers, including five years as White House correspondent. Her recent awards include induction in the Chicago Journalism Hall of Fame, an honor she shares with "doorkickers and Balzacs" from Ben Hecht to Royko and Carl Sandburg to John Chancellor.
