Culinary SOS: Tierra Sur's heirloom melon gazpacho
Dear SOS: My husband and I celebrated our 15th anniversary with a beautiful lunch and wine tasting at Tierra Sur, the restaurant at the Herzog Winery in Oxnard. To begin the lunch, I started with an heirloom melon gazpacho. I can't get the flavor combination out of my head. Although I have searched, I can't seem to find the ingredients that would have gone into that recipe. Do you think the chef at Tierra Sur would share this terrific summer cold soup?

It was served as part of a menu for last January's Restaurant Month. I have searched your column for it, but have never seen my request. Dear SOS: Some 40 years ago while in Paris, four of us made a late night trip to the Halles [produce] market. The workers were huddled around this stand that was selling onion soup and we ordered some to warm us up. It was fantastic! I hit upon Comme Ça and was delighted to find their soup.

Apple-brie soup at Bistro du Soleil in Playa del Rey
Dear SOS: As an occasional special of the day, Bistro du Soleil in Playa del Rey serves an especially tasty apple-Brie soup. In fact, a friend sent an e-mail to the restaurant saying that she was coming to celebrate her birthday with friends and asked if it would prepare the soup for that evening. The restaurant obliged, and I had a serving of the most delicious soup. Do you think the restaurant would further oblige and provide the recipe?
