WPIX's Emmy Award winning News department is pleased to announce the addition of PIX News at 6:30, a 30-minute early-evening broadcast which will debut on Monday, Sept. 14.
The only local news in the time period, PIX News at 6:30 p.m. (available in HD) will be anchored by the PIX News at Ten team (Jim Watkins, Kaity Tong, Mr. G, and Lolita Lopez) and will feature "11 Stories Making News Right Now on PIX," and deliver a mix of multiple dynamic live shots, fast-paced in studio news, video pix of the day, weather, traffic and sports. PIX News at 6:30 will be set in a new state-of-the-art studio (which PIX will unveil on Sept. 14) and give viewers unfiltered news as it happens.
"As other stations eliminate or downsize their newscasts, PIX is expanding our local coverage in the form of our 6:30 p.m. program and growing digital services. We are reaffirming our commitment to providing the news, weather and sports that impact the lives of our Tri-State viewers," said Wil Surratt, Senior Executive Producer of PM News Programming.
