Mendte: The Iowa Caucuses
The way things are lining up, the Republican Presidential Nomination may be wrapped up by January 3rd.
If Mitt Romney wins the Iowa Caucuses, a state where half the Republican voters are Christian Evangelicals, than Romney will win the nomination.  As a more moderate Mormon, his problem has been with the Christian Right, but they have not been able to find a candidate.

Now that Herman Cain has fallen, they are running out of time.

If Romney wins Iowa, he will then win New Hampshire easily and all but wrap up the nomination.  Rick Perry is spending a fortune in Iowa in campaign ads to stop that from happening.  We will learn soon if it has any effect.

My guess is that Romney wins on January 3, 2012 and conventional wisdom will be wrong again.

He can then spend his time, energy and money in running against Barrack Obama.
