FBI Investigating 11 White Power Letters Received At NJ Offices
Federal authorities have launched an investigation after eleven letters containing a white powder were received at various public and government offices throughout Northern New Jersey this month.

According to the FBI, beginning on July 17, 2009, letters have been received in Totowa, Clifton, Wayne, Ringwood, Woodland Park and Fairlawn. All of the letters are currently being tested at the state laboratory facility

Results on three of the first letters received have tested negative for biological agents, officials announced Monday. There is no indication anyone had been harmed from the unknown substance.

The incident is still under investigation and law enforcement will not speculate on a motive or connection between each letter.

Back in 2001, on the heels of the September 11th terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, letters containing a white, powdery substance - later revealed to be anthrax - were mailed to representatives of government and the media, among others. The substance eventually killed 5 people. Authorities were unsuccessful in tracking down the source of the letters.

According to a report from the Associated Press Monday , the Justice Department is on the verge of closing the long, costly and vexing 8-year-old case that remains unsolved.
