Men Accuse NYC Cops of Police Brutality
Standing outside the 81st precinct in Brooklyn Friday night, four men accused officers from that command of police brutality.

The incident stems from Wednesday evening when one of the men was approached by a police officer for riding his motorcycle on the wrong side of the street. Jeremy Gibbs, 22, claims the officer lost his temper leading to a melee when others came to his aid.

Amongst the most severe of the injuries appears to have been the broken leg of Basil Rogers, 21, who alleges he had no involvement in the melee but was attacked by police officers when he tried to leave the area. Rogers arrived at the press conference tonight in a pair of crutches and a cast wrapped around his left leg. Rogers tells WPIX Ch11 despite his injuries, police did not allow him to go to a hospital until more than 2 hours after he was arrested and allegedly beaten.

Community activists representing the four men say they are in contact with the Internal Affairs department of the NYPD and have a video of the incident. WPIX is awaiting confirmation of the video and will bring it to you as soon as it becomes available.
