Amid growing excitement about improvements at Coney Island, the installation of concrete slabs in place of wood-plank boardwalks has plenty of people scratching their heads.Count PIX 11 News reporter Greg Mocker as among those befuddled.
In a tour of the famed amusement park, he found the city is installing "boardwalks" of wood, concrete, and a synthetic material to see which can best handle the wear, tear, and weather. He also discovered the work may not be finished by its Memorial Day target.
