Officials: NJ Cop Torched Cadillac For Insurance Money
An East Orange Police Officer was arrested Wednesday morning on charges of arson and insurance fraud.

Officer Kareem Spence, 34, of South Plainfield allegedly set his 2002 Cadillac Coupe DeVille on fire in May of 2009 to collect insurance money, according to the Acting Essex County Prosecutor.

It is alleged that gasoline soaked towels were found in the trunk of the vehicle where the blaze started, prosecutors said.

Spence has been with the East Orange Police Department for six years.

If convicted of all charges, Spence faces up to 25 years in prison. He is being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility.
