CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (WPIX) -
A Long Island mom has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child after posting a sexually suggestive ad on Craigslist that targeted a 9-year-old girl.
According to prosecutors, 40-year-old Margery Tannenbaum, a social worker from Hauppauge, published the ad with the intent of getting revenge on the young girl for a dispute she had with her daughter.
The advertisement, which was posted in the "casual encounters" section on the Web site sometime between Feb.10 or 11, read "looking for a good time?" It also used shorthand for a woman seeking a man and advertised a false age of 21 years.
The ad generated nearly two dozen harassing calls from men seeking sex, police said.
Shortly after her arrest in May, Tannenbaum was charged with aggravated harassment. The second charge of endangering the welfare of a child, was reportedly added after further investigation by prosecutors, officials announced Thursday.
Tannenbaum pleaded not guilty to the charges Thursday in First District Court in Central Islip and was freed without bail. She is due back in court July 16.
