HARLEM, N.Y. (WPIX)—
The National Action Network headed by Rev. Al Sharpton held a meeting tonight in response to the increase of violence in certain neighborhoods across the city and on the heels of a police shooting Sunday where 7 people were hit, including 2 police officers. One apparently shot by a fellow officer in the melee.50 bullets were fired, Luis Soto was killed by a bullet fired from a police issued hand gun. His grandmother speaking at the summit tonight said "I don't blame anyone, but this should not have happened."
Even as the meeting was getting underway, another shooting unfolding just 2 blocks away where a teenager was shot in the stomach. Heavily armed ESU teams converged on an apartment building where the suspect was believed to be barricaded.
A police investigation is ongoing.
