Man Steals Pipes Causing $20,000 Flood
LONG ISLAND, N.Y. (WPIX) - A Massapequa house was inundated with water and it wasn't from the rain--a Centereach man has been arrested on burglary charges after he was accused of breaking into the vacant house on Pittsburgh Ave. to steal the copper piping.

According to the police, the Oct. 19 theft caused extensive flooding resulting in more than $20,000 in damage.

Thanks to investigation efforts and tips from witnesses, Ralph Phillips, 28, was arrested in East Meadow on Sunday.

Police report they found heroin on the suspect, who is now facing charges of second-degree burglary and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

He was scheduled for arraignment on Monday at the First District Court.
