Dogs Stroll Across Brooklyn Bridge For Pet Cancer Awareness
Hundreds of pet owners and their dogs took part in the 2nd Annual East Coast Pet Cancer Awareness Walk Sunday.

The 4-kilometer walk across the Brooklyn Bridge raised money for the Animal Cancer Foundation, while treating participants to breathtaking views of New York landmarks.

The mission also raises awareness about the nation's number one disease-related killer of dogs and cats -- cancer.

Participants were encouraged to walk across the bridge with or without their pets, knowing that 100% of registration fees would be donated to the Animal Cancer Foundation for pet cancer research.

Several celebrities were on hand to help support the cause. Scott Shannon is the morning co-host at the legendeary radio station WPLJ-FM in New York City. His Golden Retriever, Jimmy, is a two year cancer survivor and is the Animal Cancer Foundation's pet ambassador.

Also on hand was One Life to Live's Melissa Archer. The daytime drama star walked across the bridge with her dog Ginger.

The walk also marked national Pet Parent's day, which celebrates all the hard work and love that goes into raising happy, healthy pets.
