Over A Dozen School Buses Torched In Suspicious Blaze
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. (WPIX) - New Jersey Fire officials have deemed suspicious a fire that damaged 13 school buses at a yard in the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick.

The blaze broke out around 12:54 a.m.inside the yard of First Student Inc. Bus company on Henderson Road. When firefighters arrived on the scene several buses were fully engulfed in flames and tires were exploding.

Several residents nearby reportedly heard a series of loud explosions and alerted authorities.

Officials say seven buses were completely destroyed in the fire and another six were severely damaged from excessive heat.

As of Tuesday afternoon, investigators determined the fire was suspicious and not accidental. Nicole Jones, a spokeswoman for First Student Inc., said the company had never experienced problems in the area.

She also added there were no problems with the morning bus schedule due to the fire.

"We're cooperating with the fire department investigation," said spokeswoman Nicole Jones. "And we're grateful that there were no injuries and that our team came together in the wee predawn hours to make sure service for the students was not affected today."
