JERSEY CITY, N.J. (WPIX)—
Snow plows are being blamed for taking out at least a dozen backyard fences in Jersey City during last week's snow storm. Some homeowners who live along Route 440 woke up Thursday morning to their fences partially destroyed or collapsed. The damage was reported at 12 homes located on Country Village Road, Riverview Road and Suburbia Court.
Several residents claim the damage happened when snow plows pushed snow from the highway into the fence causing it to collapse. One resident on Surburbia Court reportedly claimed her fence had been installed 2 years ago for $2,500 and was left completely ruined.
The snow plows were out in force to clear roadways Thursday in wake of Wednesday's storm which dumped more than 16 inches of snow in some parts of the Garden State.
Joe Dee, a spokesman for the state Department of Transportation, told PIX News that officials will be looking into the complaints.
