HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. (WPIX) -
A quick-thinking 17-year-old boy helped police nab one of four alleged suspects, who apparently forced their way inside his family's Westchester home at gun-point, during an attempted robbery.
According to police, four masked men approached a man and woman outside of their home on 81 Donald Drive in Hastings-on-Hudson shortly after 11 p.m. Monday. The suspects forced the couple inside where the man was reportedly pistol whipped before handing over cash to the suspects from a safe.
During the home invasion, both he and his wife were also bound and forced to lie on the floor, police said.
The couple's teenage son, who was upstairs during the frightening ordeal, heard what was happening and called 911 from his cell phone while hiding in his closet. The thieves soon discovered the 17-year-old and also bound him.
Police arrived shortly after receiving the call and nabbed one of the suspects in the kitchen - 41-year-old Francisco Cordero - whose described as having a long rap sheet with seven prior felony convictions.
The three other suspects were able to flee from the home. They are described as being in their late twenties, Hispanic, and last spotted wearing dark clothing.
None of the family members were hurt during the incident and police were able to recover the stolen property.
