In a stunning display of poise, dexterity, and concentration, 14-year-old Danny Johnson of Texas reclaimed the world record on the wildly popular video game Guitar Hero.

The score to beat was 899,703 points on the 8-minute song "Through the Fire and Flames" by DragonForce, held by 17-year-old Chris Chike of Minnesota. With his fingers moving at unbelievable speed, Johnson smashed the record with a comfortable gain, his final score coming in at 965,364 points on expert level with a 2,895 note streak.

Johnson attempted the record live on television as part of a segment on the PIX Morning News announcing the release of the second edition of Guinness World Records 2009: Gamer's Edition. Stuart Claxton, Head of US TV Development for Guiness World Records, was on hand to certify the win.

Johnson and Chike are both known in the gaming industry as Guitar Hero rivals and have reclaimed the Guiness World Record from each other before.

UPDATE: Not one to rest on his laurels, Johnson beat his own new record later the same afternoon at an event at Best Buy. His newest record score now stands at 973,954.
