LYNBROOK, N.Y. (WPIX)—
Nassau County police are on the hunt for a woman who allegedly tried to abduct a young girl in Lynbrook Wednesday morning.10-year-old Alexa Belulovich told police she was playing on a friend's front lawn when the suspect approached her.
"The woman said, 'Oh, your Mom told me to get in the car,'" Belulovich told PIX News.
Belulovich said she did not panic and did exactly what her parents and teachers in school taught her to do. She ran away as fast as she could and advised her two friends to do the same.
"The girls came running in the house screaming and crying that some woman stopped them and asked them to get in the car," said Andrea Goldstein, the parent who was watching the children.
The suspect approached the girls in a dark blue 4-door Honda, police said. Belulovich described the woman as being heavy set, in her late 40's with gray fuzzy hair.
Police put out a radio broadcast description of the car and the woman.
Andrea Goldstein, who was watching the children, is shocked over what had occurred.
"Right in front of your own house," she said. "It wasn't like they were up at school or anything."
Goldstein said by the time she got outside, the car had already drove away.
Anyone with information is urged to call Nassau County police.
