Ted Rubin
MINEOLA, N.Y. (WPIX)—
A woman from Long Island who alienated her children from their father, violating a joint custody agreement, will now be spending six weekends in jail.Judge Robert Ross ruled that Lauren Lippe, 47, purposefully kept the children away from her ex-husband, Ted Rubin, on the days when he was legally scheduled to spend time with them.
Rubin, who divorced Lippe seven years ago, claims that his ex-wife has been trying to brainwash the children and convince them that they shouldn't love their father.
Rubin recounted one heart-breaking Hanukkah when Rubin was forced to celebrate with the children in the back of his truck at the end of Lippe's driveway. According to Rubin, the children refused to get inside the cab of the truck despite the freezing temperatures because they were told he would drive off with them.
In another instance, Lippe reportedly berated her ex-husband in front of his children, saying, "we all hope you die from cancer."
According to court papers, Lippe also falsely accused Rubin of molesting one of their daughters. The children are now 13 and 15 years old.
"This has been going on for 3 years nowÂ… and the 5 years before that were no picnic," Rubin wrote on his blog, "I accepted every settlement offer the (sic)Judge put on the table the past 2 years in hopes of keeping Lauren out of jail and sparing the girls that knowledge and hardship."
Judge Ross has sentenced Lippe to six weekends in jail on the first and third weekends of June, July and August.
Lippe says she will appeal the sentence.
