BROOKLYN, NY (PIX11) -- People who live in Lefferts Gardens call it “The Circle of Death."

The intersection of Parkside and Ocean Avenues is a place where pedestrians have to dodge trucks, buses, and bicycles trying to make a left.  Between 2008-2009, there have been 40 car accidents and 7 pedistrians have been struck, according to the Deapartment of Transportation.

"I have to hold my breath when I cross with my daughter in the baby carriage," said one mother running across the street.

Councilmember Mathieu Eugene, (D) Brooklyn, says there will be an emergency meeting with the Department of Transportation on May 3rd to discuss the crossing chaos.

"How about a light here for cars turning left, and at least some more time for pedestrians to cross," said Councilmember Eugene.

YouTube videos have also popped up, made by frustrated residents who live near the dangerous intersection.

Madeline Fix-Hansen, 38, in her posted video, demonstrates how fast the light changes and how cars just disregard her when on the crosswalk.  Her video was dedicated to her 62-year-old mother, who suffered minor injuries in a collision at the intersection.
