WAKEFIELD, BRONX (PIX11)—
Detectives are questioning a man in connection with the death of his girlfriend's 1-year-old son.Police got a 911 call Wednesday morning directing them to a third floor apartment at 667 E. 232nd St. near White Plains Road.
Just before 11:30 a.m., police found 1-year-old Richard Flood unconscious on the floor with bruises on his face. There are also reports that the baby had cigarette burns on his body. The little boy was taken to Montefiore Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The 24-year-old boyfriend of the baby's mother was taken in for police questioning. He told investigators that the baby fell off the couch and hit his head on the floor.
The boyfriend's name has not been released. So far, no arrests have been made.
The Medical Examiner's office is trying to figure out the cause of the toddler's death, and the Administration for Children's Services is also conducting an investigation.
