Prosecutors are casting doubt on a New York
college student's claim that he was suffering from post-traumatic
stress disorder when he was arrested on charges of stabbing a taxi
driver because he was Muslim.Michael Enright's lawyer says his defense is based on alcoholism and psychiatric problems stemming from war horrors Enright saw while filming a documentary in Afghanistan.
But Manhattan prosecutors say in court papers that there's nothing in Enright's own account of his trip that indicates he suffered a traumatic experience.
Enright's lawyer said Wednesday the 21-year-old student's condition "is what it is." He declined to answer questions after a hearing.
Prosecutors say a drunken Enright stabbed driver Ahmed Sharif in the neck in August after asking if he was Muslim.
