BROOKLYN (WPIX)—
A 61-year-old man in Brooklyn was shot by police after he turned toward officers carrying a BB gun.Police responded to a call on Linden Street between Mrytle and Wyckoff Avenues Saturday around 1:20 p.m. Witnesses reported a man in a blue jacket, carrying a firearm.
Officers spotted the suspect and took cover behind parked cars, ordering him to drop his weapon. That's when the man turned toward officers with the gun in his hand.
After repeated orders to drop the weapon, one of the officers fired two rounds -- striking the man in the left side of his torso and thigh.
The suspect was treated at Elmhurst General Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition Saturday.
The man has since been arrested, but no charges have been filed. The investigation is ongoing.
