Horace Skeete, charged with molestation of 9-year-old girl |
ELMONT, N.Y. (WPIX)—
The Child Abuse Section has reported Friday's arrest of an Elmont man charged with molesting a 9-year-old girl in his care.Rising Star Group Day Care, located on Dutch Broadway, is run and owned by 68-year old Horace Skeete and his wife.
The reported instance of sexual abuse occurred on Wednesday, when, according to Nassau police, a 9-year-old girl told her mother that Skeete touched her in an inappropriate manner.
Police said the girl was at the day care center playing with about nine preschool children at 7:40 a.m. when Skeete called her over to where he was sitting on the other side of the room. After touching the girl, he directed her not to tell anyone.
"These are false accusations," said a woman at day care facility who claimed to be Skeete's wife. "I know my husband would not do anything like that."
Skeete was charged with first-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child. He is to be arraigned on Saturday in First District Court, Hempstead.
