NEW YORK, N.Y (WPIX) - Former "Late Show" intern Holly Hester has come forward, admitting to being one of David Letterman's ex-lovers.

"I was madly in love with him at the time," Hester told TMZ.com. "I would have married him. He was hilarious."

The former NYU student says it all started when the talk show host called her during a hiatus, and asked her out to the movies. Hester says Letterman ended their year-long relationship, because of the the age difference.

Letterman, 62, admitted Thursday on the air that he had sex with female employees - while dating longtime girlfriend, Regina Lasko. The two married in March; they have a 6-year-old son.

The shocking announcement comes after CBS news producer, Robert Halderman reportedly tried to extort $2 million from Letterman -- threatening to go public with the clandestine affairs. The Emmy award-winning producer recently split with his girlfriend, Stephanie Birkitt, 34, a "Late Show" staffer believed to be one of Letterman's "other women." The two were reportedly living together.

Authorities say Halderman, who works for CBS' "48 Hours," left Letterman a copy of Birkitt's diary, and threatened to use it as the basis for a screenplay.

Police arrested him outside Letterman's studio Thursday, after he allegedly deposited a phony $2 million check. Halderman, 51, pleaded not guilty Monday to blackmail; he's out on $200,000 bail.

Prosecutors say Halderman tried to extort the wealthy talk show host, after a divorce left him deep in debt.
