Along a rural road in Long Island this year, Patrick Kenney was walking his dog.

"As my eyes scanned over towards here, on the branch I saw a creature, kneeling down, looking like this. He was pointing like this," Kenney demonstrated.

He says his dog looked up in the tree too.

"It was black, it was thin. It had cape on. It's arms around it's wrists were this big, but fingers long and bony," described Kenney.

Minutes later, he says the creature seemed to disintegrate into particles and it vanished.

When asked what he thought he saw, Kenney answered, "I have no idea."

Joe Flammer and Diane Hill of The Paranormal Adventurers have an idea.

"People have been seeing what we are calling the Long Island Devil. A monster!" Flammer told PIX 11 on a chilly late October night at the Beth Page Cemetery where the devil is believed to be lurking.

Flammer recounted another near-devil experience he heard from a different resident.

"This couple had come home one night and pulled into the driveway and saw this black creature in their background. It ran into woods and vanished. They saw it twice."

Over the course of three months last year, they got 40 paranormal experts and ghost hunters together to investigate the devil.

Hill and Flammer spent many nights and days searching the grounds of graveyards in the very area where the devil has supposedly been spotted.

At one point, they found freaky footprints in the snow, at least five feet apart.

"We did a lot of work to try to find out if this thing exists and we were not able to prove it," said Flammer.

That doesn't discount the devil's existence. In fact, some say there's a whole other side to this spirit. Diane and Joe had a psychic participate in their investigation. She told Diane it has a positive presence.

"This devil, this woman believes, is really not a devil at all but a guardian of the spirits here," said Hill.

Good ghost or bad beast, if you want to dance with the devil, just look up, you may just see it sitting in a tree.
