Young Devante Kelly was taking a picture with his Little League teammates, when out of nowhere he was struck by the stray bullet.
Kelly was struck while taking a photo with his team on a field in the rear of 200 Bethel Loop. He was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital where he is in critical but stable condition.
According to hospital officials, the bullet was lodged between the child's skull and skin, but did not penetrate his skull.
This is not the first incident where a child was hit by a stray bullet in the neighborhood.
In February, Samantha Edgars, a fifth-grader at P.S. 113, was shot in the chest inside her Hendrix Street home.
Police said a gunman stormed her building and fired several shots through a closed door. The girl survived after having emergency surgery.
