Authorities are search for a robbery suspect who attacked a woman in an elevator in Washington Heights.The suspect grabbed a 29-year-old woman in a Washington Heights elevator on June 9th and demanded her cell phone. When she refused, the attacker began to punch her in the face. The violent struggle was caught on a surveillance camera as the woman fought her attacker and forced the man to flee without her phone. The young woman was bruised from the attack.
On June 4th, police believe the same suspect grabbed a 26-year-old woman while she was entering an apartment building around 2 a.m. The man pushed her into a wall and demanded her cell phone. He fled the scene after taking the phone, leaving the victim with a cut on her right eye.
Police say the suspect is a man about 5’8” – 5’10”, between 200-220 pounds, and is partially bald with a slight beard.
