NEWBURGH, N.Y. (WPIX)—
The search for a missing 4-year-old Newburgh boy continued Wednesday, as police try to piece together how the child vanished from his mother's apartment.Marc Anthony Bookal was last seen at about 1:20 p.m. Monday at the home located on Benkard Avenue, according to police.
Police arrested the child's mother's boyfriend Tuesday and charged him with endangering the welfare of a child.
According to Newburgh Police Sergeant Paul Weber, 30-year-old Cory Byrd put the child in danger after allowing him to wander off unattended. Byrd was subsequently charged with a violation of parole and is being held pending arraignment, Weber said.
The child and stepfather Byrd were preparing to leave the apartment to visit a relative, investigators said, when the boy disappeared. Byrd believes the child walked out the front door minutes before they were to depart..
Marc is described as a light-skinned African American boy, whose skin on the back of his hands is blotchy. He has medium-length brown afro and brown eyes. Marc stands at about 3' 5" and weighs approximately 42 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a red long-sleeved shirt, white Nike sneakers and grey sweatpants.
