NEW YORK (WPIX)—
On a daily basis, he exposes himself to New Yorkers and leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination, so why not elect him for mayor, right?Surprisingly enough, New York's "Naked Cowboy" says he is planning to throw in his hat in the race to become the city's next mayor. Robert Burck, whose face and briefs have become fixtures in the Big Apple, says he actually has ideas for tax breaks, gay marriage, public transportation, and homeland security - among other things.
Burck himself, is somewhat of a self-made, success story in his own right having made a pretty good living sporting nothing more than a guitar, cowboy boots, and a pair of briefs. At first, many may not take his bid seriously, but a publicist for the barely-clothed cowboy assures us this is no joke.
The Naked Cowboy is expected to make the official announcement launching his candidacy at a press conference Wednesday. Burck's platform will reportedly include a stimulus plan for small business.
"No one knows how to do more with less than yours truly, and that's the kind of thinking I plan on sharing with my fellow New Yorkers when you elect me," Burck said in a statement released late Monday.
The American busker, whose made a career based on endorsements, TV/movie appearances, and tips, will have his work cut out for him come election time. His main opponent will be incumbent Michael Bloomberg who will be running for a third term as mayor and has yet to come across a viable contender.
