HUNTINGTON STATION (WPIX)—
A Long Island firefighter has died after battling an early morning blaze, fire officials announced.The fallen firefighter has been identified as 60-year-old Richie Holst of the Huntington Manor Fire Department.
Officials said Holst was part of a unit that responded to the blaze that broke out at 3 a.m. Wednesday at the Uber Café Bagel Shop in Huntington Station.
Holst was rushed a nearby hospital after he collapsed at the scene. He pronounced dead a short time later.
The cause of death is under investigation.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze an hour later.
