New York City officials encouraged Yankees fans to wear the team theme to work and school in a show of support Wednesday, as the Bronx Bombers play host to Game 1 of the World Series in the Bronx.

The Yanks will face off with the Philadelphia Phillies in what promises to be an exciting series.

Hours before Wednesday's game, Mayor Michael Bloomberg hosted a pep rally in Times Square. Mr. October himself, Yankees great Reggie Jackson and Michael Kay of the Yankees' YES network were on hand at the festivities.

Several fans, donning ponchos and raincoats gathered for the rainy, yet peppy rally. The wet weather may have put a damper on the event, but Mother Nature is expected to cooperate for the Game 1 Wednesday night. The National Weather Service says there's a 30 percent chance of showers for the opener.
