Off-Duty Cop Shot In Front Of Brooklyn McDonald's
An off-duty police officer was shot while sitting in her car Monday, according to police, who are now swarming the nearby Penn Worth Houses searching for members of two groups reportedly involved in the shootout.

The 38-year-old officer was parked near a McDonald's restaurant at Linden Blvd. and Pennsylvania Ave. in the East New York section of Brooklyn when shots rang out around 4p.m. One bullet slammed into her elbow and another into her hand. Despite her wounds, the officer managed to drive away from the shootout; police found her car several blocks away on Ashford.

"The governor and the mayor need to declare this a state of emergency," said Council Member Charles Barron who came to the scene of the shooting to decry the violence in the area.

The 38-year-old officer was taken to Kings County hospital where she is in stable condition, according to officials.

A police investigation is ongoing.
