HAVERSTAW, N.Y. (WPIX)—
Emergency officials in Rockland County are looking for a small plane that may have gone down over the northern or western part of the area.People who live along Call Hollow and Willow Grove roads alerted authorities around 6:30 p.m. when they reportedly saw a plume of smoke in the sky.
A witness who claims to work for the Federal Aviation Administration told officials he saw a single-engine Cessna plane plummet.
Officials have reportedly searched as far north as Lake Sebago in Harriman State Park and as far south as Route 202 and also to the east of the Hudson River. In addition, helicopters are also helping in the search efforts.
According to officials, the FAA and local airports have not reported a missing plane.
