Three people in distress were pulled from the waters off Long Beach Friday afternoon.

A group of young people swimming near Franking Boulevard reportedly began yelling for help shortly before 2 p.m., prompting beachgoers and lifeguards to rush into the water to try and save them.

A 21-year-old man was rushed to the hospital. However, officials say he is responsive.

No lifeguards were on the duty at the time of the incident.

This is the second incident to occur at the beach. On Tuesday, Nicole Suriel, 12, was pulled from water unconscious. She was on a field trip with her classmates from Columbia Secondary School for Math, Science and Engineering in Harlem. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.
