Kenneth Hoyt
According to California authorities, Kenneth Allen Hoyt, 44, was arrested at his Hollywood home Friday after he was accused of following and harassing two teenage girls while driving.
Hoyt was reportedly booked on suspicion of a felony, and was being held in lieu of $370,000 bail, police said.
A probe was launched by the California Highway Patrol into Hoyt's affairs, after authorities reported multiple 911 calls from cell phones reporting that, "Hoyt was continuously following and harassing two female teenagers while driving through several Southland streets and freeways," California Highway Patrol Officer Luis Mendoza said in a statement.
Hoyt, who was convicted of a sex offense in California in 1986 after having sex with a 13-year-old girl, also failed to register as a sex offender when he moved back to the state after living in Nevada and New York, Mendoza said.
Hoyt, who has ties to the porn business and is also a registered sex offender in New York, was busted five times in 2006 for allegedly masturbating on Manhattan subways - once in front of two 16-year-old girls.
The misdemeanor charges filed against Hoyt - including seven counts of public lewdness, one count of indecent exposure, two counts of child endangerment - were dismissed by a criminal court judge because the Manhattan District Attorney's Office missed the legal deadline for bringing Hoyt to trial.
During his headline making days, the accused pervert came to be known as "The Subway Fiend" in and around the New York area.
Hoyt is expected to appear in court on August 3, in downtown Los Angeles.
