Three people were injured after a city taxicab lost control, jumped a curb and slammed into a subway station on the Upper West Side of Manhattan Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

According to officials, the taxicab crashed into the subway station at the intersection of 72nd Street and Broadway at 4 p.m. Three people - including the cab driver, his passenger and a pedestrian - suffered minor injuries in the accident.

Additionally, a female pedestrian was reportedly struck on the foot by flying debris and was also taken to the hospital for treatment. Officials said it appears the taxi driver lost control when the vehicle swerved to avoid hitting another car while changing lanes.

Witnesses told New York City police the driver was speeding during the time of the incident.

Police say no summonses were issued and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
