Traffic Nightmare Ensues After Tractor Trailer Overturns Near Lincoln Tunnel
A tractor trailer partially overturned outside the Lincoln Tunnel Monday morning, causing traffic headaches for several commuters.

According to Port Authorities officials, the tractor trailer was traveling westbound on the 495 helix when it overturned shortly after 11 a.m.

It's unclear how fast the trailer was traveling. Motorists are urged to travel at most 25 mph when boarding on the helix because of a sharp curve.

The outbound side of the Lincoln Tunnel remained closed Monday afternoon as crews worked to clean up the debris.

Although the truck has since been removed, traffic is crawling. Bumper to bumper traffic goes as far back to 42nd Street outside the Lincoln Tunnel.

Traffic leaving Manhattan has been diverted to the Holland Tunnel and George Washington Bridge, officials said.
