STATEN ISLAND (WPIX)—
A dump truck crashed into a tractor trailer and became wedged underneath the toll plaza at the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge early Tuesday, causing delays.The crash happened just after 8 a.m. in a cash only lane on the Staten Island-bound side of the bridge.
Three adjacent lanes - - two other cash only lanes and one EZ Pass lane -- were closed to traffic during the morning rush.
Unconfirmed reports said a driver was trapped inside the truck.
Significant delays are expected on westbound lanes as officials complete their investigation and clear the scene.
