Library Of Congress To Archive Twitter Users' Tweets
The next Twitter message that you post could become a part of history.

Twitter has announced it is donating its archives of tweets to the Library of Congress, going back to the very first one posted by co-founder Jack Dorsey on March 21, 2006.

Twitter and the Library of Congress announced their partnership on Wednesday.

The Library of Congress wants to store tweets to give researchers a better way to revisit talk about significant historic events such at the earthquakes in Haiti, Presidents Obama's election in 2008 and Michael Jackson death.

If tweets are protected (or private) as chosen by the user, they will not be archived. The only tweets that will be sent to the Library of Congress will be tweets meant for public viewing.

According to reports, Twitter will not be able to offer access to specific tweets until they have been posted for six months.

Twitter says it is currently processing 55 million tweets daily.
