RAHWAY, NJ (WPIX)—
Suspicious white powder found on a New Jersey Transit train Thursday morning was Ultra-Slim Fast, police confirmed.According to transit officials, the diet supplement was discovered on Train 3221 approximately 40 minutes after its 7:02 a.m. departure from New York City.
Spokesman Dan Stessel said 200 passengers were evacuated from the train and transferred to another at Rahway, New Jersey, while authorities investigated the substance that was deemed suspicious.
Investigators later determined that the powder was in fact a diet supplement.
As a result of the incident, the North New Jersey Coastline experienced delays of up to an hour, according to New Jersey Transit's website.
Earlier this week, six foreign missions to the UN in Manhattan received envelopes containing white powder. At least 40 people were decontaminated after the letters were found.
