Wrigley Field

Nicknamed "the Friendly Confines," Wrigley Field has been home to the Cubs since 1916. Its original name was Weeghman Park when it was built in 1914 for the Federal League's Chicago Federals, also known as the Chicago Whales. When the Whales folded and the Cubs moved in, it was known as Cubs Park. In 1926, it was renamed Wrigley Field after William Wrigley, who was owner of both the Cubs and the chewing gum company that bears his name. Located at the corner of Clark and Addison Streets on the North Side, it is surrounded by the neighborhood that eventually became known as Wrigleyville. It was the last major league ballpark to install lights, on Aug. 8, 1988, and is the second oldest ballpark... Show more »

Wrigley's most distinctive features include its ivy-covered outfield walls. It last hosted a World Series in 1945. « Show less

Sometimes we go to the theater to be made to feel like we matter. Sometimes it's healthy to go there to be reminded that we really don't matter much at all. It lightens one's load a tad.

  17. Vote: Wrigleyville bar hopping vs. tailgating at the Cell

The setup: It's summer in Chicago, and baseball fans are flocking to Wrigley Field andU.S. Cellular Field. OK, so "flocking" is too strong a word, but there's no doubt each Chicago ballpark has a fun way to pregame. Which brings us to our latest debate.
