In 1982 he took on world champ Larry Holmes and took the strategy of letting Holmes hit him repeatedly while hoping to land a lucky shot. Cobb lasted 15 rounds and got beaten to a pulp, prompting legendary broadcaster Howard Cosell to announce that he would never work another boxing match.
