Steve McNair

Steve McNair is a quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens acquired McNair in a trade with the Tennessee Titans for a fourth-round pick before the 2006 season. During his first season in Baltimore, McNair led the Ravens to a 13-3 record and the AFC North Championship. In the playoffs, however, McNair struggled, throwing two interceptions in the Ravens' 15-6 loss to Indianapolis. McNair started his career with the Houston Oilers, who selected him with the No. 3 overall pick in the 1995 NFL Draft. When the Oilers moved to Nashville in 1997 (where they were later renamed the Tennessee Titans), McNair became the starter. He started for nine years in Tennessee. When the Oilers moved to Nashville in 1997 (where they were later renamed the Tennessee Titans), McNair became the starter. He started for nine years in Tennessee. His best year came in 2005 when he was named the NFL co-MVP (with Peyton Manning), a Pro Bowl starter and the Sports Illustrated Player of the Year. The 6-foot-2, 230-pound Mississippi native was born on Feb. 2, 1973. McNair excelled at football, basketball and baseball at Mount Olive High School. He was drafted by the Seattle Mariners as a pitcher in the 1990 Major League Baseball draft, but McNair chose to play Division I-AA college football at Alcorn State. McNair became the first and only player in NCAA history to amass more than 16,000 yards of total offense. He also set an NCAA record with 400.5 yards in total offense per game as a senior. He was nicknamed "Air McNair" for his aerial success in college.  « Show less
