  5. CIA Mole Foils Al Qaeda Bomb Plot, But Bomb Threat Remains

    The CIA says it's been able to foil an Al Qaeda plot to get a bomb onto a plane headed to the U.S., but here in the metropolitan area with the highest number of air travelers in the country, there are a couple of disturbing details related to the plot:  one, the alleged lead Al Qaeda bombmaker is still at large, and may be instructing more followers in sophisticated bombmaking techniques; two, the head of the country's largest police anti-terror operation, NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly, warns against feeling overly secure when you fly.

    John Brennan--the President's chief advisor on counter-terrorism--may have grown up in New Jersey….but he defended New York's police commissioner Friday against recent attacks from New Jersey Governor, Chris Christie, about the NYPD's surveillance of some Muslim residents in the Garden State.  "My conversations with Commissioner Kelly indicate he's done everything according to the law," Brennan said, after a speech at police headquarters in downtown Manhattan.  "He's working closely with the local communities."
