    Simeon Melman of Huntington, Long Island, described in detail how he and six other teenagers survived a grizzly bear attack while trekking through the mountains in Alaska over the weekend.  They stayed calm and survived.  For his efforts, Melman, 17, received an award from the Good Samaritan Hospital and Medical Center on Long Island where he was once a junior volunteer in the intensive care unit.
